The Planning Commission oversees new development in the City to ensure that it complies with the City's General Plan and Zoning Ordinance and has the authority to approve conditional use permits, variances, parcel maps, and hillside development permits. The Commission is comprised of seven Monrovia residents who are appointed by the City Council for a three-year term. As an advisory body to the City Council, they review and make recommendations on applications for tract maps, amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, and the General Plan.
The Commission meets on the Wednesday following the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 415 South Ivy Avenue.
