Elections & Terms of Elected Officials
The City conducts general municipal elections in March of even-numbered years to elect members to serve on the City Council. There are five members of the Monrovia City Council, including the directly elected Mayor who serves a two-year term of office, and four Councilmembers who serve a four-year term. The City Clerk and City Treasurer are also elected and serve a four-year term. The next general election will be held in March 2020. For more information on City elections and voting, click here.

Statements of Economic Interests
Members of the City Council and the City Treasurer are elected officers identified in Government Code Section 87200. They file statements of economic interests with the City Clerk's office. Copies of the statements of economic interests filed by the above elected officers may be obtained by visiting the offices of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) or the City Clerk.
The physical address of the FPPC is 428 J Street, Suite 620, Sacramento, California 95814. The physical address of the City Clerk's office is 415 South Ivy Avenue, Monrovia, California 91016. The statements of economic interests for some state and local government agency elected officers may be available in electronic format on the FPPC's website.
An elected official of the City may not serve on a City advisory body concurrent with their elected term, and they receive no compensation for attending Board and Commission meetings in their capacity as a City Council Liaison.

Rules, Terms, & Compensation of Board Members and Commissioners
The Mayor and City Council appoint Board Members and Commissioners to act as advisors in specific areas of City business. Each Board and Commission meets regularly, most on a monthly basis, to discuss public business in a public setting.
Individuals appointed to a Board or Commission must be a Monrovia resident, may only serve on one advisory body at a time, and must not be a City employee or serving as an elected official.
All Board Members and Commissioners are volunteers who do not receive any compensation.

Monrovia Municipal Code
The Municipal Code is the body of laws of the City of a general and permanent nature and contains all of the ordinances adopted by the Monrovia City Council and/or the voters of City of Monrovia. For recent updates to the Code that are not yet incorporated online, please contact the City Clerk's Office.
