The City of Monrovia is pleased to launch the start of the Lucinda Garcia Park Renovation Project. The project totaling $1.7M will expand the park by one-quarter (1/4) acre to the west and make significant improvements to the existing park amenities. The planned improvements to the park were developed following significant community outreach and stakeholders meetings.
The improvements will include the following:
- Construction of two new playgrounds (with lighting, fencing, and picnic tables)
- Installation of five exercise fitness stations
- Construction of two demonstration gardens with interpretive signage
- Improved walkways with enhanced lighting and distance markers
- Interpretive signage about Lucinda Garcia and the history of the Red Car
- Addition of a bike rack with a fixit station and new bottle fill drinking stations
