2016 Pink Patch Project
The 2016 Pink Patch Project raised over $300,000 that was donated nationwide by 82 police agencies that participated. $204,588 was from agencies in Los Angeles County and $10,000 was from the Monrovia Police Officers' Association that was raised here in Monrovia.
During the month of October, Monrovia Police Department uniformed personnel proudly wore the Pink Monrovia Police Patch and participated in the 2016 Pink Patch Project.
The #PinkPatchProject is an innovative public awareness campaign that is designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support cancer research organizations and support groups in combating the disease. In addition to raising funds to fight breast cancer, the goal is to raise awareness about early detection and treatment for breast cancer.
In 2015, Irwindale Police Department started the pinkpatchproject and raised over $20,000 for the City of Hope. In 2016, the #PinkPatchProject has grown into a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Chiefs’ of Police Association and several Los Angeles County law enforcement agencies. This year’s participating agencies are: Vernon, South Pasadena, Bell, Redondo Beach, San Gabriel, Santa Monica, South Gate, El Monte, Sierra Madre, San Fernando, Alhambra, San Marino, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Monrovia, Montebello, El Camino College, Santa Monica Community College, Bell Gardens, Glendora, Downey, Palos Verdes Estates, South Gate, and Irwindale.
