Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Governor’s and County Health Officer’s Orders set quite a few constraints. Throughout these unprecedented times, the City of Monrovia has supported local businesses in a variety of ways.      

Temporary Outdoor Business Operations Permit
Old Town

Through the Temporary Outdoor Business Operations permit, restaurants can operate with outdoor dining by expanding onto the sidewalks. Monrovia Street Fair & Market

Oak TreeEvery Friday night, the City of Monrovia hosts vendors on Myrtle Avenue, while ensuring the safety of the vendors and visitors. To become a vendor in the Monrovia Street Fair & Market, all farmers, merchants and other artisans are encourage to apply through the market's producer, Raw Inspiration.

Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board 

The Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board continues to hold meetings to discuss the impacts of the pandemic and possible solutions. 

Our Commitment to the Business Community 

As the response to the pandemic continues to evolve, the City of Monrovia remains dedicated to keeping the community safe while removing barriers for struggling businesses.

  • Businesses are provided with regular updates related to Federal, State or County financial-aid programs on the Monrovia Strong webpage
  • Staff at the City serves as ombudsman for businesses and the Department of Public Health.
  • Inspections for commercial buildings were never halted, allowing business owners to continue with their projects.
  • The administrative review processes for businesses has been streamlined.
  • Regulations on signs and postings in Old Town Monrovia were loosened, making it easier for merchants to have more advertisement opportunities.
  • Monrovia Strong banners were developed and installed in Old Town Monrovia, which were designed to help keep everyone optimistic and remind the community that businesses are still open online and for take-out.
  • Take-Out options from all Monrovia restaurants has been shared on the City's website and social media.
  • Old Town Monrovia launched an Instagram campaign to highlight an Old Town business every week.
