The City places high value on public art and the cultural, social, and economic benefits that art provides public spaces. One of Monrovia's ongoing art programs is called Footnotes. Footnotes are comprised of both sidewalk poetry, which are short prose submitted by Monrovia residents, and Monrovia moments, which are fun, historical tidbits. These are stamped into newly-poured sidewalks throughout the community.

Getting Builders Involved

Applying to leave your mark on Monrovia is simple! Currently, contractors and developers working with the City who will be pouring new concrete can ask to participate in the Footnotes program. If approved, they will receive many of the needed supplies, including the concrete stamp, and the option to choose a poem or Monrovia moment. Looking for a "concrete way" to leave your mark on the City of Monrovia?

What do I need to know?

Stamping concrete can be challenging for even the most experienced individuals. If the imprinting process is done incorrectly, it can be difficult and expensive to repair.
