Chick-fil-A and Starbucks received approval in August 2021 to construct and operate new drive-thru restaurants at the southwest corner of Huntington Drive and Encino Avenue (former Claim Jumper restaurant site). The Chick-fil-A restaurant will be a 4,562 square foot, one-story building with outdoor dining space and the Starbucks café would be a 2,200 square foot, one-story building with outdoor dining space.

As part of this project, approximately 8,600 square feet of land was dedicated to the City of Monrovia for future parkland use. The future development of a park at this site will require additional public input, as well as separate review and approval by the Community Services Commission and the City Council.
