Monrovia Public Library offers group visits and tours of the Library for teachers and students in the Monrovia Unified School District. As time and availability permits the Monrovia Public Library may be able to accommodate other Monrovia based groups.

Library visits last approximately 30-45 minutes and are conducted by Library staff members.  Teachers need to arrange for a tour at least two weeks in advance.  Time slots are limited so it is important to call early to reserve a particular time and day.

By appointment, a Youth Services Librarian is available at the library to:

  • Tell stories
  • Explain library resources and policies
  • Give library skills and research instruction
  • Present book talks
  • Assist your group in researching a certain subject
  • Demonstrate the online catalog
  • Take groups on a tour of the library
  • Distribute library cards

Library Cards: Teachers must have their students’ parents fill out a Library Card Application (available in English and Spanish) before coming to the Library.  Teachers must request this service when making arrangements for a visit.

Arriving Late? If an arriving tour group encounters travel delays such that the group would arrive more than 10 minutes late, the school group leader must contact the library to determine if a new arrival time can be made.

To schedule a tour, contact Youth Librarian, Annette Simpson at (626) 256-8269 or email: asimpson@ci.monrovia.ca.us

OUTREACH PROGRAMS

If you are unable to visit the library, a librarian can visit your school for a program of storytelling, book talks, and more.

The first priority of the Monrovia Public Library is to serve the Monrovia Unified School District.  As time and availability permits the Monrovia Public Library may be able to accommodate other Monrovia based groups.

For more information, or to book any of these special services, call Youth Librarian, Annette Simpson at (626) 256-8269 or email: asimpson@ci.monrovia.ca.us
