The Monrovia Police Department is responsible for protecting and serving Monrovia's 37,000 residents, in addition to the commuters, visitors, and daytime business population. Ensuring the safety of Monrovia are 80 full-time police personnel, and a budget of $13 million. These employees and dollars are allocated to the different departments below to help ensure a safe and thriving Monrovia.

This section provides leadership, budget coordination and management, personnel and payroll administration, planning, organizational development and community support.

Support Services

The Support Services Division is managed by one police captain who has overall responsibility for management of the Records; Communications, Crime Analysis and Technology (CCAT); Detective and Community Policing Bureaus.

Operations Division

The Operations Division includes Uniform Services, Bicycle Patrol and Police Motorcycles for traffic enforcement. Operations Division also includes two Community Services Officers, one in Personnel and Training and one in Patrol.

Detective Bureau

The Detective Bureau is responsible for follow-up and completion of felony and misdemeanor criminal cases and preparation of these cases for filing with the District Attorney's Office. The Special Enforcement Team (SET) is also managed through this Bureau.

Communications, Crime Analysis and Technology

The Communications Center, Crime Analysis and Technology Bureau is the public safety answering point for both the Police and Fire Departments in the City of Monrovia. In an average month, it handles on average 2,100 telephone calls, dispatch 1,500 calls for service and process 27,900 radio requests.

Community Policing

The Community Policing Bureau seeks to improve the quality of life for Monrovia residents by targeting criminal and social problems in the community, coordinating and managing Neighborhood Watch, child identification and fingerprinting, home security checks and seminars, business security and crime prevention training.

 Animal Control

Animal Control

The Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA provides animal control Services to the City of Monrovia.  The services provided include:  answering calls for service, patrol, dog licensing, code enforcement, shelter and veterinary services, and emergency call out.
