The Monrovia City Council and the Community Services Commission have developed a Memorial Program to provide an opportunity to recognize residents, business people and professionals who have passed away and had a positive impact on the Monrovia Community.

Donors may now dedicate a park tree, park bench or picnic table in the memory of a loved one who meets the criteria approved by the City Council.

Tree Memorials

Tree Memorials provide a beautiful and long lasting way to recognize those who have meant so much to us. Once a donation is received for a Tree Memorial, the location of the tree is chosen from a pre-approved park site list. The Public Works Department will then purchase and plant a 15-gallon tree. Trees are generally planted within three months of a donation, with the donor being notified within two weeks of the actual planting date. The donation required for a Tree Memorial is considered a living memorial donation.

Park Bench & Picnic Table Memorial Donations

Your memorial donation could  purchase a Victorian Style park bench and place it in one of our City's park from a approved list. These benches are six feet in length, made of environmental friendly recycled materials, and have an expected life span of 10 to 15 years. The donation includes the installation of an attractive engraved nameplate on the bench with up to three lines of engraving. All wording must be approved by the Public Works Department.

Another consideration for donors is a Classic Style Picnic Table. These tables are also made of recyclable materials and include the engraved brass nameplate. Donors must be aware that future park improvements may result in the relocation of any of the benches or tables.

Monrovia Old Town Bench Program

An alternative to the Park Bench Program is the Monrovia Old Town Bench Program. This is both a dedication and memorial program. The Old Town Bench may be dedicated to an organization, business or an individual donor. These benches are an attractive Victorian Style of outdoor furniture that fit perfectly with the Old Town decor. They are an attractive steel rib-slatted design with durable iron castings and a powdered-coated deep green finish.
