What does SB 1383 mean for me?
The City and Athens Services, your exclusive franchise hauler, implemented Monrovia’s Organic Waste Recycling Program, which means residents can now place all organic waste into their current green bin. Food and yard waste that is collected in your green bin will be diverted from landfills and recycled to produce compost, mulch and clean energy.
How to Participate as a Tenant:
- Sort recyclables and organic waste from trash
- Place all organic waste into the green bin
- Contact your property manager if you don’t have a green bin
Property Owners and/or Managers Requirements:
You play an essential role in supporting Monrovia’s Organic Waste Recycling Program! Here’s how you can increase recycling and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our community:
- Subscribe to trash, recycling and organic waste services
- Provide organic waste collection for both employees and tenants that is easily accessible and includes correct labels and signage
- Annually educate employees and tenants on properly sorting waste, recycling, and organic waste into correct bins
- Provide new tenants with information before or within 14 days of move-in
