The Housing Element is about - you guessed it - the current and future housing needs of Monrovians. The goal of the Housing Element is to plan for safe, affordable housing for all economic segments of our community in a way that is sensitive to our existing neighborhoods. Because housing is an important issue throughout the State of California, the Housing Element is updated regularly - every 8 years! Housing Element Update

The Housing Element was updated as part of the Focused General Plan Update.  Hundreds of community members participated in this update through a number of outreach efforts including housing stakeholder meetings.  The results are recapped in the Housing Element appendices.

Based on feedback heard from the community, during the review, the City Council directed staff to initiate a study on an Inclusionary Housing Ordinance. That study is now underway.
